Mulberry House is a hidden gem within the beautiful Essex countryside village of High Ongar, conveniently located on the A414 between Harlow and Chelmsford. The venue is ideally situated just 40 minutes from central London and accessible from both a 10 minute drive from Epping train station or junction 7 on the M11.
The grounds stretch to 22 acres in total and to the left of the property is a 5 acre field, which was originally our cricket pitch. It is now it’s used to land helicopters and host outdoor events for our clients.
This is an L – Shaped paddock with minimal trees and is a great open space for events/festivals or to erect marquees/tipi’s. There is also a further two fields at the rear which are also large open, flat spaces. All three fields are all accessible from the venues main car park and do not suffer with any flooding.

We have our licensed Lake View Gazebo perfect for those romantic, story book weddings. Surrounding this are more woodland areas with a large garden terrace and seating. The Garden Room restaurant accessible from the terrace houses a bar and further optional inside seating, with toilet facilities within the main house. The main house itself is then surrounded by woodland, two lakes, striped lawns and wildflower meadows. We are also home to an array of wildlife, including our extended family of Alpacas and black swans.
Mulberry House itself is a popular venue to host many weddings and events all year round. It backdates to the 1700’s and has been carefully restored and improved over the years. There are 24 boutique bedrooms onsite both available in the original Georgian House or in the courtyard rooms, along with the convenience of accommodating free parking for up to 150 vehicles onsite. We have a kitchen, 3 bars, furniture and our own in-house team of hospitality professionals. We can either manage the events fully or allow you to take the reins.
The venue boasts the choice of eight private function suites, each with a different feel and all have unique features. Our intimate spaces can cater for a more private affair with numbers as low as 8 guests, or perhaps a large celebratory party hosted in our Marquee for up to 200. Each occasion we can tailor make a package to mirror the ideas of your vision, accompanied by a delectable menu to suit your pallet, carefully created by our in-house Head Chef and his team.
