Massingham Heath Wilderness Barn

Massingham Heath Wilderness Barn is set in the middle of the Little Massingham Estate. And…. is one of the UK’s prominent rewilding sites.

At Massingham Heath Wilderness Barn we can host

Parties, retreats, corporate do’s, weddings and gatherings can be held in splendid isolation within 2500 acres of wilderness. Home only to owls and bats for half a century, we’ve created a woodland Shangri-La. Where you and your friends can immerse yourself, feast, celebrate, and rest and recuperate in style. Soothed in all senses by the glories of nature.

The Location

This place is all about immersion in nature. As well as your event, we can provide wilding safaris around Massingham Heath. Where you’ll see wild horses, pigs, goats, longhorn cattle. As well as an astonishing chorus of skylarks and many of the rarer treasures that the world of birds has to offer. We are close to the lovely north norfolk coast and the local pub is UK renowned.

The barn seats anything up to 100 at long banqueting tables made from our own timber. Lit by soft fairy lights above and a huge roaring fire at the end. Plenty of room for dancing, as well as a bar area, a kitchen and a snug. You can choose our in-house chef to provide the full dining experience. Or if it’s a different vibe you’re after, you’re welcome to go for it.

Accommodation

As part of the package, you have the use of seven luxury bell-tents, complete with log burning stove, double beds and all the trimmings. Camp beds available for extras!

We also have two gorgeous restored railway carriages which sleep two in luxurious isolation. They have a double bedroom, a kitchen / diner with a sofa and log burning, and a bathroom in each.

Catering

In house: Our chef is Matt Derges. Matt was the head chef in Great Massingham’s popular Dabbling Duck and he now holds the position of Head Chef at Fakenham Race Course. He also caters for film sets and private functions & weddings.

Street food: Talk to our chef, Matt, about what you’d like in the way of street food, or feel free to source burger vans etc from outside.

Barbeque and Pizza Oven

The barn has a pizza oven and barbeque, with a ready supply of wood in in the shed for both. These are usually a hit for lunch the following day, or the Friday night before. We provide pizza dough, fire lighters, kindling etc.

Your Event

We encourage you choreograph your event to your taste, while providing the basic building blocks for you to choose from. The basic package includes the barn, seven beautifully appointed bell tents and two converted Railway Carriages to accommodate 18 couples, or as many as you wish to squeeze in.
